Assistant Professor of English, Nineteenth-Century British and/or Anglophone Literature and Culture

The Department of English at Emory University, Atlanta, GA, invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the area of Nineteenth-Century British and/or Anglophone Literature and Culture. We are limiting the search to applicants who have not already held a tenure-track position. Successful candidates will present strong evidence of excellence in research and teaching and must have a demonstrated commitment to teaching and mentoring a diverse student body. Ph.D. in English or a relevant field must be awarded by August 2022.

We are seeking scholars who work primarily in Nineteenth-Century British and/or Anglophone Literature and Culture with related interests in areas such as: decolonial/colonial/postcolonial studies, queer/sexuality studies, feminist studies, Black studies, critical race studies, South Asian studies, Asian studies, Asian American studies, literary theory, science studies, animal studies, environmental/ecology studies, disability studies, health humanities, digital humanities, and public humanities.

We ask applicants to submit a cover letter, CV, 1-2 page dissertation or book project abstract, 1-page diversity statement, 20-25 page writing sample, and three letters of reference. Candidates’ cover letters should include a discussion of their research, teaching, and service. Diversity statements should describe candidates’ experience and vision regarding the teaching and mentorship of students of diverse backgrounds.
