Assistant Professor in Composition and Rhetoric

The English Department at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln seeks a specialist working at the intersections of digital writing and African American/BIPOC rhetorics and pedagogies for a tenure-track appointment at the assistant professor level. The successful candidate will support the department’s Composition & Rhetoric unit and will also play an important role in the department’s commitment to creating a new African American and Africana Studies in English program that draws on already existing faculty strengths. Desirable secondary interests include critical race studies, socially conscious pedagogy, community-engaged writing, queer studies, and women’s and gender studies. Candidates will be asked to teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, supervise undergraduate and MA theses as well as Ph.D. dissertations, and serve on graduate student committees.

Candidates must have a Ph.D. in English, Composition & Rhetoric, or a field relevant to the position by August 2022. Candidates must also have a strong publication record, evidence of successful teaching, and a profile situated at the intersection of digital writing and African American/BIPOC rhetorics and pedagogies. Preferred qualifications include scholarly engagement in one or more of the desired secondary interests as well as demonstrated commitment to inclusive teaching practices.
