Assistant Professor of Spanish

WAKE FOREST UNIVERSITY’s Department of Spanish invites applications to fill a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning July 1, 2022. Successful applicants will have native or near-native fluency in Spanish, a Ph.D. (completed or expected by July 1, 2022) in Afro-Latin American Cultural Studies with an area of specialization in Central and/or Spanish-speaking South America, and an active research agenda. The teaching requirement is nine courses over two-years (2-2-2-3), including language courses and upper-level undergraduate courses in the candidate’s area of expertise. The faculty in the department value excellence in both research and teaching and seek applicants who share that commitment. The Department has a strong commitment to faculty diversity and excellence and is particularly interested in candidates who can bring to their research and teaching critical perspectives linked to the experiences of groups historically underrepresented in higher education.
