Instructor of French (Non-tenure-track)

The University of South Carolina, Aiken, a senior institution in the University of South Carolina system, seeks candidates for Instructor of French, beginning August 16, 2022. Required: minimum earned M.A. in French. Other degrees may be considered (M.A. in Education, M.Ed., etc.) providing applicants have completed a minimum of 18 graduate hours in French. Salary is commensurate with education and experience.   

Candidates will be expected to teach a 3-course load per semester consisting of beginning to intermediate French language course, Conversation & Composition courses, as well as have knowledge of and/or experience with online course delivery and course development. Interest in becoming involved with our Maymester Study Abroad Program in Tours, France, as well as the ability to teach “French for the Professions” are pluses.

The Department of Languages, Literatures, and Cultures currently offers two Spanish majors and two Spanish minors: “Spanish-English Translation and Interpretation” and “Spanish Language, Literatures, and Cultures”. In 2022, the department of will consist of 6 full-time faculty members who teach courses in Spanish, French, and German. The candidate must demonstrate strong evidence of excellence in teaching, and native or near-native fluency in both French and English.
