Lecturer in English, (Native American, Latinx, African American Lit and First Year Writing)

Elon University invites applications for a lecturer position in the English department beginning mid-August 2022. Requirements: Master’s or PhD in relevant field; record of innovation and excellence in teaching; demonstrated commitment to teaching introductory literature and first-year writing courses. Preferred areas of specialization include Latinx, Native American, or African American literatures.

 

Teaching will include literature, first-year writing, and courses in the Elon Core Curriculum. A record of excellence in undergraduate teaching is required. Candidates who have experience working with a diverse range of people and who can contribute to the climate of inclusivity are encouraged to identify their experiences in their cover letter.

 

Lecturers have a standard teaching load of seven courses per academic year. Evaluation criteria for lecturers include evidence of effective, high-quality teaching; service to the university; and professional activity. Lecturers are ongoing faculty members with a continuance and promotion process, but no expectation of tenure. Lecturers are eligible for travel funds equal to those of tenured/tenure track faculty, and are eligible to compete equally for Faculty Research and Development funds.
