Assistant Professor

The Department of English at Texas A&M University invites applicants for a full-time, 9-month, tenure-track, assistant professor position in English (Rhetoric).  The position requires a PhD in English, Rhetoric, or Writing Studies, with  specialization in Composition, Writing Pedagogy, and/or Writing Program Administration. The successful candidate will maintain an active publication agenda, participate in undergraduate and graduate curriculum development, and oversee writing instruction in collaboration with program coordinators. We seek candidates with a commitment to DEI demonstrated through research and/or inclusive pedagogy. Desired qualifications include experience in writing program administration, demonstrated experience with and commitment to developing Open Educational Resources, and experience and commitment to active learning. The ideal candidate would contribute to one or more strategic research/teaching areas within the department, such as writing studies, LatinX and/or African American and/or Asian American writing and rhetoric, gender studies, health humanities, digital humanities, environmental studies, or the rhetoric of science. 

 

Texas A&M’s English department is home to an undergraduate major and minor, a minor in health humanities, a professional writing certificate, prospective minors in professional writing and science fiction studies, and MA and PhD programs. Job responsibilities include teaching graduate and undergraduate courses in rhetoric and composition, writing pedagogy, and composition studies; undertaking appropriate academic service on departmental, college, and university committees; and mentoring students from diverse cultural backgrounds. The normal teaching load is 2/2.
