Assistant Professor of Composition, Rhetoric, and English Studies

The University of Alabama English Department invites applications for a tenure-track position in CRES (Composition, Rhetoric, and English Studies) at the rank of assistant professor.  The successful applicant will have the PhD in hand by August 2022 and will have a degree in rhetoric-composition (or closely related field), an active research agenda with a primary emphasis in composition-rhetorical studies, and a record of effective teaching.  Area of specialization is open, but we are particularly interested in candidates whose interests include rhetorical theory or history of rhetoric, cultural /ethnic rhetorics (including African American, Indigenous, Asian American, and Latinx), and civic rhetoric. The successful candidate will help develop our newly approved undergraduate minor and concentration in digital, public, and professional writing. They may also help us to support the College of Arts and Sciences research efforts in cultural studies, global connections, and/or digital humanities.  Review of applications will begin October 25 and will continue until the position is filled.
