Assistant Professor, Creative Writing/Fiction

The Department of English at Saint Louis University, a Catholic, Jesuit university, invites applications for a tenure-track position at the assistant professor rank in creative writing (fiction), to begin in August 2022. The department seeks an active writer with a strong record of publication and a dedicated teacher to teach creative writing courses in our B.A. in English as well as core and first-year writing courses as needed.  We particularly welcome applications from candidates whose writing or secondary scholarly expertise engages questions of race, ethnicity, gender and class in relation to literatures of Black and/or African Diaspora, Indigenous, LGBTQ+, Hispanic/Latinx, Asian American or Disability studies perspectives and contexts.  2/2 courseload; salary competitive.  Candidates should have a commitment to teaching that aligns with the University’s mission and core values of social justice, inclusion, and community engagement. A Ph.D. in English or Creative Writing or an M.F.A. is required by the time of appointment.
