Assistant Professor of English in Modern British Literature (Tenure Track)

The Department of English at Old Dominion University invites applications for a tenure track Assistant Professor of English in Early Modern British Literature and Culture with an expected start date of July 25, 2022. Successful candidates will be expected to teach courses in Early Modern British literature ranging from undergraduate surveys to upper-level courses in drama, poetry and poetics, to Ph.D. special topics courses in the candidate’s area of expertise.

Required Qualifications: Demonstrated potential for or evidence of successful research and publication in British Early Modern studies. Demonstrated potential for or evidence of excellence in teaching at the university level. Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Preferred Qualifications: Candidates with expertise in one or more areas of continental literatures, comparative or transnational approaches, digital humanities, history of ideas, or decolonizing the curriculum regarding issues of empire, racial formation, gender and sexuality, or disability studies are especially encouraged to apply.
