Assistant Professor of Spanish

Tenure-track position at Assistant Professor level beginning late August 2022. Ph.D. required by June 2022. Salary competitive and consistent with level of experience. The successful candidate will join a growing Spanish program and teach a fulltime load of six courses per year ranging from introductory Spanish language to advanced cultural and literary studies in Spanish. We seek a teacher-scholar with expertise and experience in the field of Transnational Literary and Cultural Studies (Transatlantic, Transpacific or Hemispheric Studies). Additional interest or expertise in designing and/or teaching Spanish for Specific Purposes and/or Portuguese language is desirable/welcome. Candidates are expected to have high aptitude and interest in undergraduate teaching, a promise of scholarly excellence, a commitment to the liberal arts, and a desire to involve undergraduates in scholarship both inside and outside the classroom. We encourage applications from candidates whose intellectual and pedagogical approaches are effective in attracting and retaining students from historically underrepresented groups. The successful applicant will demonstrate a strong commitment to working with students, faculty and staff from diverse social, cultural, and economic backgrounds.
