Affiliate Faculty of Writing

The Department of Writing at Grand Valley State University seeks to fill a full-time (9-month), non-tenure track Affiliate Faculty position beginning August 6, 2020. No scholarship expectations or service obligations. An M.A., M.S. or M.F.A. in English, Rhetoric/Composition, or Writing is required by time of employment. Candidates need to have expertise and experience in teaching college composition. Candidates must also have experience teaching writing in a computer lab. Preferred qualifications include graduate coursework in rhetoric and composition, or its professional equivalent. The typical full-time (9-month) teaching load is 12-credit hours per semester, drawn from GVSU's general education composition courses. The position is not tenure-track. Individuals will be appointed for one academic year on a full-time basis. This may be renewed once for an additional academic year. Thereafter, such individuals may be appointed for three (3) consecutive academic years. The ideal candidates will focus their careers on teaching general education writing courses and on continuously developing their professional expertise as writing teachers.
