Assistant Professor - Associate Professor (Race and Empire in Literature in English before 1900)

The Department of English at the University of Miami seeks a colleague at the assistant or associate rank whose research and teaching focus on Race and Empire in Literature in English before 1900. We welcome candidates with transatlantic, diasporic, indigenous, and comparative perspectives, including those who could contribute to programs in Africana Studies or Judaic studies, or to interdisciplinary doctoral concentrations in Digital Humanities, Caribbean Studies, or Medieval and Early Modern Studies. 

 

The successful candidate will be an actively publishing scholar-teacher prepared to teach a range of undergraduate and graduate courses in one or more fields of their interest, and to serve as a reader or adviser for dissertations and on undergraduate or graduate program committees, as well as other departmental, college, or university committees. The teaching assignment is two courses per semester. Minimum requirements include an appropriate terminal degree (i.e., a PhD or the equivalent); relevant conference presentations and journal or book publications, and experience teaching literature at the undergraduate and graduate levels. This appointment is expected to begin on August 15, 2022.
