Assistant Professor in Environmental/Medical Humanities, Disability Studies, or Lit Science & Tech

The Department of English at the University of Texas at Austin seeks to appoint, beginning Fall of academic year 2022-23, a tenure-track assistant professor whose research focus and teaching interests include ecocriticism (environmental humanities); literature and medicine (health humanities); disability studies; and/or literature, science, and technology. Period and national specialization are open, but British, Transatlantic, and/or Global Anglophone are preferred. Given the department’s commitment to diversity and social justice, we are interested in candidates whose scholarship and teaching bring a racial-justice lens to one or more of the areas listed above, and candidates who will contribute to diversity and equal opportunity in higher education through their teaching, research and service.

The qualified applicant will have a PhD in hand by August 18, 2022, and will demonstrate a promise of excellence and innovation in teaching and research, as well as experience working with diverse students. The selected candidate will be expected to teach two courses per semester at all levels of our curriculum, serve on undergraduate and graduate committees, publish actively, and offer service to the Department, College, and University.
