Tenure-track in Professional Writing, English

OVERVIEW

The Department of English seeks a tenure track Assistant Professor in the field of Technical and Professional Writing or a closely related concentration to teach courses in our growing undergraduate Professional Writing track. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in writing and rhetoric in STEM fields. Background or interest in expanding professional writing programmatically and through industry partnerships is a plus.

All full-time faculty members of the English Department teach six courses per year, four of them in our core curriculum, which focus on teaching critical writing and reading skills. These courses may incorporate texts and multimodal genres from instructors’ varied specializations and interests which span across professional writing, film, and/or literature. Faculty members are expected to maintain an active research agenda; advise undergraduate students; and serve on faculty committees. We seek colleagues with a proven record of excellence in undergraduate teaching who can demonstrate potential as a scholar and contribute to our community of innovative teacher-scholars with a commitment to diversity and inclusion.

The University of St. Thomas embraces diversity, inclusion, and equal opportunity for all. Our convictions of dignity, diversity and personal attention call us to embody and champion a diverse, equitable and inclusive environment.  We welcome applicants of diverse races, ethnicities, geographic origins, gender identities, ages, socioeconomic backgrounds, sexual orientations, religions, work experience, physical and intellectual abilities, and financial means. We are committed to building a team that represents a variety of backgrounds, perspectives, and skills. This commitment is consistent with our mission: Inspired by Catholic intellectual tradition, the University of St. Thomas educates students to think critically, act wisely, and work skillfully to advance the common good.
