Assistant Professor in Creative Writing-Poetry/Poetics

Description

We seek a poet who is able to teach creative writing workshops as well as literature courses on poetry and poetics. We are especially interested in applicants who can make connections with one or more of Tulane's interdisciplinary programs in Africana Studies, Asian Studies, Latin American Studies, and Middle East and North African Studies, and/or who have strengths in Caribbean, Anglophone African, or other literatures of the global South.

This position involves teaching 2 courses per semester (creative writing workshops and/or literature and theory courses), publishing creative and possibly critical work, and assisting in the maintenance of the department's Creative Writing Program.

Creative Writing at Tulane

The Department of English is home to a vibrant Creative Writing Program with highly productive faculty and regular guest speakers. The department offers an introductory creative writing workshop as well as advanced, genre-specific creative writing workshops.

Qualifications

Candidates should have an MFA or PhD by the time of appointment; experience teaching creative writing at the post-secondary level; and significant publications or promise thereof.
