The Robert P Hubbard Professor of Poetry, beginning July 1, 2022, will teach mainly poetry-writing workshops and work to foster the appreciation of poetry across the Kenyon College community.  The Hubbard chair will teach four courses each year (two each semester) and contribute to the life of the English department and the College (advising students, directing honors projects, participating in faculty governance, and helping to enhance, develop, and diversify the department’s creative-writing program and curriculum).  Qualifications include: a strong record of teaching excellence; at least one collection of poetry, published by a highly regarded press; demonstrated commitment to teaching and mentoring underrepresented students; and an MFA or PhD.  A completed application will include 1) a cover letter detailing writing interests and accomplishments, teaching experience, and teaching philosophy with information on ways that issues and practices related to diversity, inclusion, and equity have been or will be included in teaching and advising; 2) a Curriculum Vitae; 3) an unofficial graduate transcript (if relevant). Applicants should also submit the names and email addresses of three references, including at least one who can attest to the applicant’s teaching effectiveness and potential. These references may be prompted by email to upload their letters of recommendation to the application website at a later stage. All application materials must be submitted electronically through Kenyon’s website at http://careers.kenyon.edu. Review of applications will begin immediately and continue until the position has been filled; to ensure full consideration, candidates should submit materials by December 17, 2021. Applications will be acknowledged by automatic response. Semi-finalists will be asked to submit writing samples prior to preliminary interviews, which will be held by Zoom or Google Meet, with on-campus interviews to follow.  An Equal Opportunity Employer, Kenyon College encourages applications from members of all underrepresented groups.
