Instructor/Assistant Professor - Non-Tenure Track - English

The Department of English in the College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) invites applications for one full-time, renewable non-tenure-earning faculty position at the Instructor or Assistant Professor rank, beginning in the 2022-2023 academic year (August 15, 2022). 

 

The successful candidate will teach a 4/4 load of writing and/or writing-intensive courses, including regular composition courses and courses for students in our developmental writing track.  Active service within the English department is also expected of all full-time faculty.  Preference will be given to candidates whose pedagogical approach incorporates digital literacies and multimodal discourses, as well as demonstrated interest in and experience teaching diverse student populations.  Candidates with experience in teaching science writing and/or technical writing are especially encouraged to apply. 

 

College-level experience in composition teaching in both classroom and online formats is required.  Master’s degree in English, Rhetoric/Composition, or related field is required for instructorship; terminal degree in English, Rhetoric/Composition, or related field is required for Assistant Professor rank.  Degree must be completed by August 15, 2022.
