Assistant Professor in Creative Writing: Fiction, Memoir, and Creative Non-Fiction

Assistant Professor in Creative Writing:  Fiction, Memoir, and Creative Non-Fiction (MFA or PhD) with preferred additional area of interest in one of the following areas of literary and cultural studies:  Asian-American, Native American, Latinx/Chicanx, African-American, Queer, Disability, and/or Diasporic Literature.  The successful candidate will have a strong a record of achievement in fiction and prose with the demonstrated potential to develop as a strong teacher in creative writing, as well as the preferred ability to teach one or more of the above fields of literary and cultural studies.  In addition, candidates must demonstrate the capacity to develop an inclusive curriculum and engage in work that celebrates, supports, and helps to sustain the diverse backgrounds of our students, faculty, staff, and community.  Normal teaching load is three courses per semester.  The successful candidate will engage in service to the institution and the community; have an active agenda of creative work and scholarship; work well with fellow faculty in various disciplines in shaping the direction of the Department and University; participate in student advising; and teach a variety of courses, which may include graduate courses in our MA program, upper-division undergraduate classes, lower division general education courses, and composition courses in our writing program.  ABD candidates will be considered. If ABD, candidates will be required to complete the doctoral degree by August 2022.
