Assistant Professor of English

 The University of South Carolina Lancaster, a regional campus of the University of South Carolina located approximately thirty-five (35) miles south of Charlotte, NC seeks candidates for a faculty position in English beginning August 16, 2022. Applicants should hold a Ph.D. or other terminal degree in English or a related field including credentials necessary for departmental approval to teach selected English courses.

The primary teaching responsibilities will be in rhetoric and composition, and demonstrated expertise in these areas is preferable, whether from experience, training, or publication. Candidates engaged in other scholarly areas, particularly creative writing, are also invited to apply. 

The position will normally require the teaching of twelve credit hours per semester or its equivalent. In addition to teaching foundational courses for freshman and sophomore students, there are opportunities to teach upper division courses in the University’s Palmetto College online bachelor’s degree programs.

Along with teaching duties, scholarship and university/community service are expected.

Preference will be given to candidates with experience teaching and advising undergraduates.
