Assistant/Associate Professor for English and Comparative Literature

Habib University invites applications for a position in English and Comparative Literature at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor in its Comparative Humanities Program. Candidates with specializations in World Literature, or literatures and cultures of the Global South and Comparatists with other areas of specialty are strongly encouraged to apply.

The program seeks talented faculty who are passionate about teaching and student learning at the undergraduate level in line with global developments in the field. Habib University seeks outstanding student mentors who will be involved in the lives of students through mentoring, student support, enrolment initiatives, and other activities related to the education experience.

Fall appointments begin August 1st and Spring appointments begin January 1st.

Qualifications: The candidates must have completed or must be in the final stages of a doctoral degree in the relevant field from a leading global institution recognized for its strength in this field. Ideal candidate will possess excellent teaching and scholarly skills, will be able to work with a diverse population of students and colleagues, will enjoy influencing the intellectual growth of their students, will be effective in institutional service, will be passionate about undergraduate research and is excited to work with colleagues across disciplines. Experience studying in and/or working in a liberal arts environment will be an advantage.

Responsibilities: Primary responsibilities include: teaching undergraduate courses, active engagement in institutional service, professional activities, student mentorship, and curriculum planning and review. The annual teaching load is 5 three- or four-credit courses. This position will play a critical role in supporting both the comparative humanities majors and the liberal core of the University.
