Assistant Professor of Japanese

The Department of World Languages and Cultures at the University of North Carolina Wilmington seeks to hire an assistant professor of Japanese. Upon initial appointment, the successful candidate will teach Japanese language and culture courses, coordinate the Japanese minor, offer study abroad programs in Japan, advise students and relevant student organizations, collaborate with related programs, produce scholarship, and provide department and university service. This tenure-track position is scheduled to begin August 2022.

Candidates should possess a PhD or EdD in the field of Japanese language and culture, or closely related discipline (such as Asian Studies with at least 18 graduate credit hours in Japanese language, literature, culture, pedagogy, etc.).

ABD will be considered; however, PhD or EdD must be obtained within the first academic year of employment.
