VISITING ASSISTANT PROFESSOR IN SPANISH AND HISPANIC STUDIES

The Spanish Program in the Department of Modern Languages & Literatures at Union College is seeking a candidate for a three-year visiting position with engaging and deep cross-disciplinary research and vision, and preferably a focus on Central American, Andean, Peninsular, Chicanx, or Border Studies.  We are looking for a person who can contribute to a redesigned curriculum through courses that bring Hispanic Studies in connection with other disciplines, including computer science, engineering, the social or natural sciences, or the medical humanities. Broad topics related to global challenges and/or race, diversity, equity, and justice are also very welcome. The candidate is expected to contribute to a dynamic undergraduate Liberal Arts program and demonstrate very strong language teaching skills and experience at all levels as well as interest in working closely with undergraduate students and in curricular development.

Appointment beginning in September of 2022. PhD in hand by August 2022. Candidates must have native or near native fluency in Spanish. Union College recognizes the rich possibilities of interdisciplinary studies by offering many opportunities for both faculty and students to engage with multiple disciplines - and each other - in collaborative classroom settings, innovative majors, and unique research initiatives. The successful hire will therefore be able to develop courses in their area of expertise that may contribute to environmental studies, global studies, computer science, cultural or media studies, among others.
