Instructor or Lecturer of Japanese

The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures in the College of Arts and Humanities at the University of Central Florida (UCF) invites applications for a nine-month, non-tenure earning instructor or lecturer position, anticipated to begin in August 2022. 

Duties:  The successful candidate will teach primarily lower-level language classes in Japanese. Assignments will consist of eight classes per year. The selected candidate will also be expected to contribute to the growth of the Japanese program.

Minimum requirements:  A master’s degree (for an instructor) or terminal degree (for a lecturer) in Japanese or related field from an accredited institution at the time of appointment. The candidate must have demonstrated excellence in teaching beginner and intermediate language classes at the university or college level. Native or near-native fluency in Japanese and a high level of English proficiency is required. The candidate must be authorized to work in the USA without the need for sponsorship, now or in the future.

Preferences:  Preference will be given to those with at least two years teaching at the college level and experience using a range of teaching modalities (i.e., online, mixed-mode, and face-to-face courses).
