Assistant Professor of Comparative Literature and the Global South

The Department of Comparative Literature (https://complit.la.psu.edu ) at The Pennsylvania State University (https://psu.edu ) invites applications for an Assistant Professor position (tenure-track) with a specialization in comparative approaches to the literatures and cultures of the Global South, broadly understood. We are interested in applicants whose work contributes to approaches that may include: critical philosophies of race, cultures and histories of decolonization, gender and queer studies, indigenous and Native studies, oceanic and/or archipelagic studies, and/or diaspora studies. As a Comparative Literature department, we are interested in applicants whose teaching and research interests reach across mediums and genres of literary and culture studies, including but not limited to poetry and poetics, drama and/or performance, film and/or new media, sound studies, and/or prose and narrative.

Requirements: PhD in hand by date of appointment, in Comparative Literature or a related field; native or near-native ability in English and at least one other language; relevant research achievements or evidence of relevant research promise; appropriate teaching experience. Teaching responsibilities include contributing to the graduate and undergraduate programs in Comparative Literature (our department offers the BA, MA, and PhD in Comparative Literature); for more information, visit our department website at http://complit.la.psu.edu.
