Assistant/Associate Professor - Spanish

The Department of World Languages, Literatures, and Cultures at Middle Tennessee State University invites applicants for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position at the rank of assistant/associate professor in Spanish. The start date is August 1, 2022. The position is contingent upon funding.

The successful candidate will have a field of specialization in Spanish or Hispanic studies, with expertise in translation. Also, the successful candidate will be expected to demonstrate excellence in and commitment to both scholarly research and teaching, and have the ability to teach all levels of undergraduate and graduate courses.

Responsibilities include teaching courses in the successful candidate’s specialization (translation and language for the professions), working collaboratively to further develop the translation track within the Spanish section, conducting and publishing research in areas for specialization, participating in departmental and university service, and other duties as assigned. The successful candidate will have native or near-native proficiency in Spanish and English. A terminal degree in Spanish, Hispanic Studies, or Translation Studies is required.
