Visiting Lecturer of Spanish

The university invites applications for the position of Visiting Lecturer of Spanish starting January 2022. Responsibilities include teaching SUBJECT(S) courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels, university service, and advising. Courses may be face-to-face, hybrid, or online. Evening teaching may be required.

The position is a one-semester, visiting Lecturer position (5 course load) for Spring 2022. Review of applications will begin on November 1 and will continue until the position is filled.

Minimum Qualifications:

PhD or ABD in Spanish and teaching experience in college-level Elementary and Intermediate Spanish required.

Doctorate in Spanish (open field but preferably a specialty in Second Language Acquisition or Applied Linguistics). Ph.D. must be in hand by the time of appointment. Candidates should demonstrate native/near-native fluency in English and Spanish. Candidates must be able to teach all levels of undergraduate Spanish language courses, peninsular or Latin American literature, and foreign language teaching methodology. This position is being added to support the growing Spanish education programs at Shepherd. 

Preferred Qualifications:
Doctorate in Spanish is required, preferably with a specialty in Second Language Acquisition or Applied Linguistics.
