Assistant Professor of Latin American Literature and Spanish Language

The Department of World Languages & Cultures at Mount St. Mary's University seeks an outstanding teacher-scholar for the position of non-tenure-track Assistant Professor beginning August 2022 with possible conversion to tenure-track.  The ideal candidate will possess a Ph.D. in Latin American Literature, research and teaching specialty are open but preference will be given to those candidates who have Afro-Caribbean and/or Indigenous areas of study. The department also seeks candidates who can contribute to the university's core curriculum humanities courses including freshmen symposium when needed. Native or near-native proficiency in both Spanish and English is essential. In addition to courses within the specialization, candidates will also be asked to teach civilization/culture courses and language classes at the beginning levels. The normal teaching load is seven courses per year. ABD candidates will be considered if they expect completion prior to the start of the fall 2022 semester.
