Assistant/Associate Professor - Creative Writing, Liberal Arts

The Liberal Arts Department of the Minneapolis College of Art and Design (MCAD) invites applications for a full-time Assistant or Associate Professor in Creative Writing. Candidates must have previous teaching experience in foundation writing classes, and special consideration will be given to scholars with a field of specialization that supports and/or complements one or more of MCAD’s studio majors in the Media Arts, Design, Fine Arts, and Arts Entrepreneurship departments. The successful candidate will be committed to differentiated instruction to reach all learners. The department strongly encourages applications from candidates who possess an ability to inspire and motivate a diverse student population of artists, designers, and makers and who have demonstrated success meeting the needs of underrepresented student populations and/or engagement with diverse communities.

The position begins August 2022. Full-time faculty are required to teach three courses each semester or the equivalent and participate in committee work and other departmental and college activities required of ranked faculty while maintaining an active scholarly agenda or artistic practice. This position is benefits eligible. This position reports to the chair of the Liberal Arts Department.

Qualifications:

  • Three years of post-secondary teaching experience
  • Terminal degree (MFA or PhD) 
  • Evidence of an active scholarly agenda or engagement and/or critical practice in their field
