The Department of East Asian Studies at New York University invites applications for an open field tenure-track position (Assistant Professor) in Korean Studies. The initial appointment begins September 1, 2022, and is subject to budgetary and administrative approval.

Eligibility requirements: We encourage all applicants engaged with critical and methodological issues connected to Korea (inclusive of North Korea) and East Asian Studies, including those working within and across media and film, and cultural studies, with a historical perspective. We seek candidates interested in working in a department that encourages transregional and global perspectives. The search committee is especially interested to hear from candidates who will bring to their research and teaching the diverse perspectives that come from non-traditional educational backgrounds and approaches or an understanding of those under-represented in higher education.

We are particularly interested in hearing about concrete steps you have taken (or are planning to take) to foster an inclusive intellectual environment in your research, in the classroom, in the department, and on campus, and/or in the discipline more generally.

Method of application via Interfolio: Applicants must apply through Interfolio using this link: http://apply.interfolio.com/97527
