Professor of English (OPEN RANK)

The Department of English in the College of Arts and Sciences at North Central College seeks to hire a tenure-track professor, rank open, to begin August 1, 2022. Candidates should have completed the Ph.D. by time of appointment. All areas of specialization in Linguistics, 5-12 English Education, and/or Professional and Technical Writing will be considered. Applicants must demonstrate evidence of excellence in undergraduate teaching and mentoring, as well as an active scholarly agenda.

Candidates will have opportunities to teach in the general education curriculum and in a range of interdisciplinary programs such as Film & Screen Studies, Gender and Sexuality Studies, or Environmental Studies. Interest in, and ability to provide leadership for, the newly created Race and Ethnic Studies minor will be weighed in a candidate’s favor. We seek a colleague whose scholarship and teaching are theoretically grounded in race studies.
