Position Summary: The Department of English in the Fulbright College of Arts and Sciences at the University of Arkansas seeks an Assistant Professor of Rhetoric and Composition. We seek candidates with scholarly expertise in rhetoric (e.g., rhetorical theory, history of rhetoric, rhetorical education, public writing) OR technical and professional communication, with the scholarly expertise in either field intersecting with race and ethnic studies. We are particularly interested in scholars who merge their expertise with one or more of the following subfields: Health and medicine, Disability Studies, Migration, Popular Culture, and Social Movements. The position starts in August 2022, and is a 9-month appointment.

 

This position involves teaching courses in a new minor in rhetoric and writing as well as a new concentration in rhetoric and writing within the English major. The appointment requires teaching four courses per year at the undergraduate and graduate level and service to the department, college, or university. The ability to collaborate with a diverse faculty and staff is essential.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

With submitted materials, the candidate must demonstrate:

 

  • Ph.D. in English, Rhetoric and Composition or related field conferred by time of appointment
  • Evidence of excellence in teaching undergraduate courses in rhetoric and composition
  • Ability to collaborate with a diverse faculty and staff

 

Preferred Qualifications:

 

  • Demonstrated scholarly expertise in rhetoric or technical and professional communication intersecting with race and ethnic studies
