The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures at Johns Hopkins University seeks to appoint at the rank of Associate or full Professor a scholar of Medieval and Renaissance Italian literature with a distinguished research record. In addition to expertise in canonical literary texts of the period from Dante to Tasso, applicants will have a strong record of publication and public-facing research in one or more of the following areas: gender and sexuality studies, performance studies, translation and the Classical tradition, book and print-media history, medieval and early modern environmental humanities, and the languages and cultures of the Mediterranean world.

The successful candidate will supervise doctoral research, offer courses in Italian and in English at the undergraduate and graduate levels, and serve on the editorial board of MLN (Modern Language Notes).

Projected start date: July 1, 2022.

Qualifications:

A Ph.D. in Italian or related comparative field is required.
