Assistant Professor of Spanish and Hispanic Studies (Tenure-Track)

 

Earlham College invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor of Spanish and Hispanic Studies, with a primary focus in Latin America, to begin in August 2020.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities

Spanish and Hispanic Studies faculty teach three courses per semester. All faculty teach language courses at all levels and teach upper-level literature and culture courses. The Department is active in summer collaborative research and members lead the College's unique and well-known study-away programs to Spanish-speaking countries and regions of the world. Experience in off-campus program development and leadership is considered an advantage. Some members of the Department contribute to one or more of the College's interdisciplinary programs, such as Comparative Languages and Linguistics; Women, Gender and Sexuality Studies; and Peace and Global Studies.

 

Experience & Qualifications

Ph.D. and ABD applicants will be considered. All applicants must have near to native proficiency in Spanish, and be able to demonstrate excellence in teaching in a liberal arts environment. Because the Department of Spanish and Hispanic Studies is small but representative of the diversity of Hispanic Studies, special expertise in any number of areas is welcome, including but not limited to translation studies, popular culture and media, creative writing, Southern Cone regional studies, and Caribbean Studies.
