The Anisfield-Wolf Postdoctoral Fellow in English and the Public Humanities: Generalist

Summary

The Department of English at Ursuline College seeks a teacher-scholar for a one-year, renewable post for up to three years who embraces the spirit of Cleveland’s own Anisfield-Wolf Book Awards: “The Anisfield-Wolf Book Awards recognize books that have made important contributions to our understanding of racism and our appreciation of the rich diversity of human cultures.”

Responsibility

The fellow will teach a 3-3 course load in the Department of English—both first-year required courses (composition) and upper-division courses of their choosing and/or design. We especially encourage applications from candidates with expertise in the fields of the digital humanities, public humanities, and/or public writing. Additionally, there are opportunities to contribute to our minors in women’s studies and / or African American studies.

The postdoctoral fellow will be expected to contribute to scholarship surrounding our Rust Belt pathway—a certificate program through our core curriculum centered on fostering civically engaged students who are knowledgeable of local challenges and are solution-minded—by designing a course or a project and/or giving public-facing talks. (Information about the program can be found at www.ursuline.edu/neh)
