Utica College, a small comprehensive college in Upstate New York, is seeking applications for a tenure-track faculty position in the English Department, specializing in African-American/Multiethnic American literature, to start August 1, 2022. The successful candidate will teach African-American literature (ENG 392), pre- and/or post-Civil War surveys of American Literature, and general education courses, as well as contribute to a growing Africana Studies program.  Interest in and ability to teach literature in one or more of the following areas is also desirable: literature of the Africana diaspora, Latinx literature, or queer literature. The  4-4 course load will typically include two sections of first-year composition every semester.  Development of graduate courses in the applicant’s field for students seeking secondary education certification is possible. Candidates must have or be near completion of a Ph.D. by August 2022.
