Instructor

The Department of English and Foreign Languages at Louisiana State University Shreveport seeks an Instructor of English for a one-year, full-time appointment beginning August 2022.  Full-time instructor appointments may be renewed annually upon satisfactory performance reviews.  The successful candidate will teach four courses each semester, primarily writing courses, including freshman composition, and general education literature surveys.  Service to the department (such as student advising), the university, and/or the community will also be expected.  Some teaching will be face-to-face, but online teaching experience is desired, especially with documented success in course development using rubrics such as Quality Matters. The successful candidate may also have opportunities to teach upper-division courses in a specialty depending upon need, qualifications, and experience. We are interested in candidates with training and experience in one or more of the following areas:  rhetoric; digital humanities; linguistics; history of the English language; professional/technical writing; classics; world literature; and 16th-, 17th-, or 18th-century literature.

Qualifications:

While a Ph.D. is preferred, the successful candidate must have at least a Master’s degree in English or a related field with 18 hours in English at the graduate level.  Candidates who are ABD are also welcome to apply.  Closing Date:  January 3, 2022
