Tenure Track Assistant Professor of English and Writing- Creative Writing -Non Fiction

The Department of English and Writing within the College of Arts and Letters at the University of Tampa seeks a writer and teacher of creative nonfiction with a secondary interest in another genre for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position beginning in August 2022.

The University of Tampa is a medium-sized, comprehensive, residentially-based private institution of more than 10,000 undergraduate and graduate students. The University is ideally situated on a beautiful 110-acre campus next to the Hillsborough River, adjacent to Tampa's dynamic central business district, which is a growing, vibrant, diverse metropolitan area.  UT reflects this vibrancy; with 24 consecutive years of enrollment growth UT boasts 260 student organizations, a multicultural student body from 50 states and more than 100 countries, and "Top Tier" ranking in U.S. News & World Report.

We particularly seek candidates whose writing and experience represent historically underrepresented communities in literature and the academy. A terminal degree in creative writing and substantial publications are required.

The 24-credit (generally 3/3) teaching load for all tenure-stream faculty in the department is divided equally between academic writing classes and classes in a faculty member's area of expertise. The candidate should have a demonstrated ability to teach not only their specialty but also composition and rhetoric.

The successful candidate will contribute to a newly expanded creative writing curriculum and will have the chance to offer and design new courses. Experience writing and teaching in sub-genres such as graphic fiction or nonfiction, YA literature, genre literature, or screenwriting will enhance a candidate's application.

Review of applications will begin on November 30 and will continue until the position is filled.

Please apply on-line at www.ut.edu/jobs
Applicants should be prepared to attached a cover letter, curriculum vitae and writing sample of not more than 25 pages.  Letters of recommendation may be requested at a later time.
