The Department of English at the College of Arts and Humanities (CAH), invites applications for an assistant professor of technical communication. This is a nine-month, tenure-earning position anticipated to begin in August 2022.
The successful candidate will be expected to teach a 3/2 teaching load of both face-to-face and online classes at the master’s and undergraduate levels, with the potential to teach in UCF’s interdisciplinary Texts and Technology Ph.D. program. In particular, the successful candidate will teach the foundations course in technical communication (ENC 3241) as well as advanced courses in the technical communication track such as documentation and project management, collaborative writing, and client-based writing. Additionally, the successful candidate will have an opportunity to build on the program’s existing specializations and propose new courses in their areas of interest. The successful candidate will be expected to maintain a productive research program and to participate in service activities to support the department, college, and university.

A Ph.D. in English, Technical Communication, or a relevant field from an accredited institution by time of hire and successful teaching experience at the university level.
• A strong record of publication.
• Experience teaching technical communication courses.
• Experience in online instruction.
• Scholars with expertise in one or more of the following areas of applied technical communication research: intercultural or international technical communication; social justice; project management; science and environmental communication; plain language; technical communication ethics; emerging media; and/or health and medical communication.
• Scholars with an interest in developing and building on existing programmatic relationships with local community and industry organizations.
