The English Department of Texas Christian University invites applicants for three (3) full-time positions as Instructor of Writing, a non-tenure-track, renewable position beginning in August 2022.
Applicants should demonstrate extensive scholarly knowledge of and experience in the teaching of composition/writing that intersect with two or more of the following areas of expertise: Indigenous rhetoric, decolonized rhetoric, decolonized pedagogies, translingualism, African American rhetoric, Black language and literacy, Latinx Rhetoric, Asian American rhetoric, disability studies, race and rhetoric, anti-racist pedagogies, critical whiteness studies, digital writing, digital rhetoric, multimodal and/or multimedia pedagogies, performance rhetoric/ popular culture (TV, film, music), rhetoric of science, queer rhetoric, feminist pedagogy, intersectional rhetoric/intersectionality and rhetoric.
The position requires teaching: 1) 6 sections of introductory level and intermediate writing per year; 2) 2 sections of specialty writing courses for the writing minor and major per year. The teaching load is 4-4. In addition to teaching duties, successful candidates will contribute to the writing minor/major and English department and participate in service duties, including advising undergraduates, shaping the major, and serving on departmental, college, and university committees.

The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in Composition and Rhetoric or a closely related field with specialization in Composition and Rhetoric from a regionally accredited institution at the start of employment. Teaching experience in first year writing is required. Commitment to and excellence in undergraduate writing instruction is also required.
