The Department of Germanic Languages and Literatures, within the College of Arts and Sciences, seeks a Senior Lecturer in Yiddish to join our program. The term of the appointment is three years, subject to annual review, and with the possibility of renewal as well as promotion. The College of Arts and Sciences is the largest college and the academic heart of the University. The College hosts 81 majors. We seek a dynamic scholar/teacher of Yiddish who can contribute to department strengths in any of the following areas: film, folklore, gender and sexuality, linguistics, literature, migration studies, translation, Holocaust and genocide studies, or trauma studies. The successful candidate will teach three courses per semester in Yiddish Studies, in both English and Yiddish, ranging from second language acquisition classes to English-language courses on Yiddish culture that are part of the University’s General Education program. The successful candidate will also direct and reinvigorate the Yiddish program at Ohio State.

 

Qualifications: A PhD in Yiddish Studies or related discipline prior to the appointment start date. Classroom teaching experience

 

The target hiring range for this position is $42,000 - $48,000, annually.
