ACLS-University of Kentucky Postdoctoral Partnership Fellowship

The Department of English at the University of Kentucky is pleased to announce the ACLS-University of Kentucky Postdoctoral Partnership Fellowship, made possible by a generous grant from the American Council of Learned Societies with funds provided by The Andrew W. Mellon Foundation.  The duration of the postdoctoral fellowship is two years, after which we expect the fellow to transition into a tenure-track faculty position at the University of Kentucky.  The fellowship is designed to increase the diversity, broadly conceived, of faculty in the humanities.  More information on this program is available at https://www.acls.org/programs/ppi/.

The Department of English seeks an emerging scholar in global anglophone literature and culture, 20th-21st centuries.  We hope to attract applicants with research and teaching interests that extend beyond continental North America and Great Britain, including colonial and postcolonial cultures.  English literatures of Africa and Asia and their diasporas would be especially welcome, although anyone with a global approach to literary study is strongly encouraged to apply.  Scholars who work in multiple languages will receive full consideration if anglophone literature and culture are significant among the applicant's areas of expertise.

Interested applicants should apply online at: http://ukjobs.uky.edu/postings/249150. Application materials should include the following: 2-page cover letter, curriculum vitae, writing sample (20-25 pages), teaching portfolio (upload as Specific Request 1), and diversity statement (upload as Specific Request 2).  Because this fellowship is designed to increase the diversity of faculty in higher education, we expect candidates to submit diversity statements that are explicit about how an applicant will add to the diversity of the University of Kentucky's English department. In addition, please provide the names and contact information for 3-4 references when prompted in the academic profile. This information will be utilized to solicit recommendation letters from your references within the employment system.

Please contact search committee chair, Peter Kalliney <pjkall2@uky.edu> with questions.  Applications submitted by 15 November 2019 will receive full consideration.  The position will remain open until filled.

Stipend is $60,000 per annum.  Research funds and benefits are competitive.  Teaching duties will include a total of three courses over the two years of the fellowship, possibly arranged in a 0-1 and 1-1 pattern.  Applicants should have completed a Ph.D. in English or a related field between 2016 and August 2020, anticipated start date for the fellowship.

The University of Kentucky is an Equal Opportunity Employer and encourages applications from veterans, individuals with disabilities, women, African Americans, and all minorities.
