Assistant Professor in Spanish

The Department of Modern Languages (MODL) at The University of Texas at Arlington (UT Arlington) seeks to fill a tenure-track position in Spanish at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning August 2020. 

 

  • Required Qualifications: A Ph.D. in Spanish, Spanish Translation & Interpreting, or closely-related fieldrequired by August 2020.
  • Preferred Qualifications:Secondary emphasis in Spanish for the Professions, such as Spanish for the Health Professions, or Spanish Localization strongly desired. Expertise in Hispanic Culture a plus.

 

Candidates must demonstrate potential for excellence in research, teaching, and service, as well as for funded research activity. ABD applicants will be considered, but Ph.D. must be in hand by August 2020. Applicants should be qualified to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Spanish Translation and Interpreting; Spanish for the Professions, or Spanish Localization; Spanish language and/or Hispanic culture. The standard teaching load is five courses per academic year (typically 3/2), although this load may be modified by the Chair pursuant to grant funding or significant service assignments. In addition to teaching and research, the faculty member will contribute to the growth of the Department of Modern Languages through participation in departmental activities; collaboration with university, industry, and community partners; recruitment; and other service.Successful candidates are expected to demonstrate a commitment to diversity and equity in education through their scholarship, teaching, and/or service.
