Faculty Tenure Track-9 Mo. (Japanese Translation, #999168)

Opportunity at Kent State Univ. for an Assistant, Associate or Full Professor of Translation Studies. Full-time, tenure-track position specializing in Japanese translation to begin August 2022. The successful candidate will teach Japanese-English translation workshop courses at the M.A. level, as well as non-language specific translation courses at the master’s and doctoral levels within the internationally recognized translation program of the Department of Modern and Classical Language Studies at Kent State University.

Minimum requirements: Ph.D. in hand by date of appointment; native or near-native proficiency in English and Japanese; record of research or a focused research agenda in Translation Studies; demonstrated ability to develop and teach graduate courses in Japanese-English translation and in Translation Studies. Professional translation experience, track record of publication, ability to teach upper-division undergraduate courses in Japanese culture, and willingness and ability to develop new skills based on programmatic needs are highly desirable.
