Old Dominion University’s Department of English invites applications for a full-time, continuing contract position beginning fall term 2022 for a lecturer in general education composition. The lecturer’s schedule will be composed of four sections per semester with a mix of our 100-level genre-based composition course and WAC/WID 200-level academic writing courses with the possibility of some 300-level digital, professional, and technical writing courses based on experience and availability. The colleague will also be expected to engage in department service. Classes are taught on campus and online though this position does require an on-campus presence.
Required Qualifications: Expertise in and experience teaching college composition. Minimum degree requirements: MA or MFA in English.
Preferred Qualifications: Graduate work or graduate degree in Rhetoric, Composition, and Writing Studies preferred. The ideal candidate will have the ability and willingness to contribute to our efforts toward anti-racism, accessibility, and innovation in our English general education program. Preference will be given to candidates with expertise and experience with teaching WAC/WID composition, digital writing, and/or technical writing with particular interest in those whose work intersect any of the following areas: Cultural Rhetorics, LatinX, African American, Native American, and/or Asian American writing and rhetorics, Disability Studies and/or Universal Design Learning, and STEM writing.
