Assistant Professor of English and Director of the Writing Center

The Department of English at the University of Illinois at Chicago invites applications for a tenure track position as Assistant Professor of English and Director of the Writing Center, beginning August 16, 2020. In addition to demonstrated expertise in Composition Studies, the successful applicant will demonstrate a research agenda of substantial promise, the ability to take on a lead administrative role, and a commitment to participating in the intellectual life of the department and to teaching a diverse undergraduate and graduate student body.  Areas of teaching and research specialization could include:  English Language Learning, Literacy Studies and Diverse Populations, Rhetoric, Composition and Digital Technologies. In addition to administrative responsibilities, the expected teaching load is 1-1.  Candidates must have a Ph.D. in hand by August 2020. UIC is a Carnegie Doctoral/Research-Extensive University located in the heart of one of the nation's largest metropolitan areas.
