Assistant Professor of Spanish

The Modern Languages Department at Roanoke College invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Spanish to begin in Aug. 2022.

Candidates will be expected to teach language at all levels and upper-division courses including phonetics and phonology, Spanish composition, and Spanish for heritage speakers. Additionally, candidates will contribute to the general education core of this liberal arts institution and plan and implement short-term study away programs.  The teaching load is 3-3 with a May Term course every third year.

We seek a flexible, dynamic, and creative colleague to assist in meeting the curricular needs of present and future students and to successfully promote foreign language study.  Candidates need to be committed to the liberal arts tradition, to excellence in undergraduate teaching, to ongoing faculty development, and have an active research agenda.

Requirements: Ph.D. preferred, but strong ABD candidates will be considered. Candidates must have a professional level proficiency in Spanish and English.
