Visiting Assistant Professor of Digital Studies

The Digital Studies program at Davidson College invites applications for a 2-year visiting assistant professor to begin July 1, 2022. Digital Studies is an arts and humanities-oriented program that explores the intersection of technology and culture through theoretical approaches, creative and critical making, and digital methodology. We seek a humanities Ph.D. who can connect digital practices and culture to queer studies, black studies, critical race theory, indigenous futurism, or disability studies, and who has experience in one or more of the following fields: digital humanities, digital rhetoric, software studies, internet studies, video game studies, or science and technology studies. Applicants should demonstrate scholarly or creative promise and a commitment to undergraduate education.

The teaching commitment is 5 courses per year, including Introduction to Digital Studies and courses based on the specialization of the successful candidate, such as Gender and Technology or Surveillance Culture. We are interested in candidates who can teach a first-year Writing class as well. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to design their own courses for the Digital Studies program. Depending on their focus, these courses may support other interdisciplinary programs, such as Africana Studies, Environmental Studies, and Gender and Sexuality Studies.
