Assistant Professor of English (Tenure-Track)

Southwestern University invites applications for a tenure-track position beginning Fall 2020 in post-1865 American literature. Candidates must have a PhD in English and be committed to the professional life of a teacher-scholar at a national liberal arts institution. Candidates will be expected to teach a broad range of courses in American Literature, including lower-level surveys, upper-level courses in areas of expertise, and capstone seminar. All department members contribute to the university-wide First-Year Seminar program and are expected to effectively advise students. Ability to teach courses in Latinx literature, U.S. cinema, or with a digital humanities component desirable but not required. We seek candidates committed to inclusive pedagogies and to serving an increasingly diverse student body. Teaching load is 5 courses/year; pre-tenure sabbatical and research funding are available by application.
