Assistant Professor of Rhetoric and Writing Studies

The Department of English at The University of Texas at El Paso invites applications for a tenure-track, assistant professor position in Rhetoric and Writing Studies to begin Fall 2020.  The successful applicant will teach, conduct research, and mentor students in the Rhetoric and Writing Studies (RWS) program, particularly in the areas of technical writing, user experience, and border rhetorics, which are key focuses in the doctoral program and the new undergraduate major.  Subfields of expertise for this applicant can include digital rhetorics, multilingualism/translingualism, and/or decolonial research methods.  This new hire will seek external funding that will support scholarship by both faculty and students in academic, community, and workplace settings. 

Requirements

  • A Ph.D. in Rhetoric and Composition, Rhetoric and Writing Studies, or a closely related field required at the time of appointment.
  • A demonstrated commitment to teaching and research excellence

Preferred: Experience teaching traditionally underserved students
