Senior Preceptor in Italian

The Department of Romance Languages & Literatures seeks applications for a senior preceptor in Italian. The appointment is expected to begin on July 1, 2022. The senior preceptor will be responsible for teaching intermediate and advanced level Italian courses. Administrative duties include training and supervising teaching fellows, curriculum development (at all levels), and undergraduate advising and recruitment. The position is for five years and renewable contingent upon performance, enrollments, and curricular need. 

The successful applicant should be well versed in the issues of teaching Italian as a foreign language. Preference will be given to candidates who have experience teaching all levels of Italian, coordinating language programs, and training and supervising teaching fellows. Specialization in language pedagogy and second language acquisition is highly desirable. Applicants should have native or near-native proficiency in Italian. A strong doctoral record is preferred as well as working knowledge of instructional technology.

6.   Names and contact information of at least three referees, who will be asked by a system-generated email to upload a letter of recommendation once the candidate’s application has been submitted. Three letters of recommendation are required, and the application is considered complete only when at least three letters have been received.
